Robert Dow spokesman for Rail Back On Track has an excellent letter in the North-West News 20th July about the failure to treat all transport modes equally with the introduction of the carbon tax. He argues this penalises the sustainable land transport mode rail but promotes road transport. This will lead to further out of control congestionmassive damage t roads more escalating health costs as road trauma increases and does nothing to lower the carbon footprint of the transport secotr.
