Everywhere you go locally where people gather socially in groups you will find a gentle but dangerous hospitality.

It is the ‘bring a plate’ generosity that is feeding us an endless supply of biscuits cakes scones and pikelets.

We look on a morning tea table groaning with the plates of food that have been so generously supplied but no-one is thinking about what it is doing to our waistlines our hearts our diabetes risk (how many of us are going to end up having to have our feet amputated because of all the sweet cakes and biscuits!!!???).

Couldn’t we start thinking about this and coming up with some foods that could be supplied for morning and afternoon teas for after church and the like that don’t rely so heavily on carbohydrates and sugars?

Could we start collecting and swapping recipes for non-sugar non-carbohydrate affordable easy-to-prepare foods to bring on a plate?
