Dear {usertag:name}

This e-Newsletter is being sent to all members of Transition The Grove.

If you know of someone local who would like to be helped by these community volunteers would you please email Natalie directly.

Thanks

Anne

Hi

My name is Natalie Stanley and I’m from the Grove Baptist Community Church.  We are running a community care day on the 24th March 2012.  We are sending out individuals and small groups into the community to participate in small projects to help people and show we care.  We are looking for projects such as tidying people’s yards helping with odd jobs or cleaning making up packs of “essesntials” to give out.  Basically anything we could do between the hours of 8am and 1pm on the day.  I am wondering if you might know of any needs in the Ferny Grove/ Upper Kedron area or surrounding suburbs.  We would be happy to partner with something already happening on that day or would love to consider any alternative ways we might be able to help.  Alternatively if you know of any other organisations we may be able to contact please let us know.
Regards

Happy New Year to all Energy Group members!

To get the year started I have scheduled an Energy group meeting for Thursday 2 February at 7 pm.

I have been quite busy over the holidays and have some important information to report back to the group. There are some challenges to address and I would really appreciate your help in discussing the issues and making some decisions about the best way to progress towards our goal of a sustainable and resilient community.

The uncertainty about the State and Local Government election dates has now been addressed so we can start making some firm plans.

When: Thursday 2 February – 7:00 pm
Where: Ferny Grove State High School Library – McGinn Road
Bring: Ideas
Cost – FREE! – Supper included. Gold coin donation appreciated.

The Grove Sustainable Energy Expo

Transition The Grove Banner
To view this message on-line please {readonline}Click here.{/readonline}.

Dear {subtag:name|part:first|ucfirst}

Transition The Grove Inc is a non-profit association working to reduce the carbon footprint our our local community in the upper Kedron Brook valley (the Brisbane suburbs of Arana Hills Ferny Grove Ferny Hills Keperra and Upper Kedron). We have adopted the successful Transition Towns model and are an accredited official Transition Town.

Our current project is to collaborate with our local high school (Ferny Grove State High) in organising an Alternative Energy Expo. Our aim is to educate the community about sustainable energy and encourage residents who have not already done so to move to more sustainable energy sources. The purpose of this email is to invite your participation.

The Expo is scheduled for March 2012 but dates have not yet been finalised due to uncertainty about the the date of local government elections.

This project enables the school to meet their requirements to engage with the community in developing a School Environmental Management Plan (SEMP – More information here) and the school has made their facilities available and will assist with promotion.

We will do everything possible to minimise the costs to exhibitors but may need to impose a modest charge to cover any unavoidable costs such as public liability insurance for the event overall.

We hope to attract some innovative exhibits and interesting guest speakers.

If you are interested in participating please let us know by email to expo@transitionthegrove.org.au and we will keep you up to date as our planning progresses. We expect to be seeking a firm commitment before the end of January 2012.

If you would like to send information about your company and products please mail to:

Transition The Grove

If you do not wish to participate please click the unsubscribe link below.

We look forward to your participation.

Dear {usertag:name}

Welcome new member Patricia McLennan to the Food & Gardens and Recreation Subgroups.

A good place to start getting involved in local food and garden activities is to have a look at the Forum – Food & Gardens on the website. The Hills District Community Garden Inc is now getting its first garden started and has plans for more in this area.

We’re recovering after a great day at Hillbrook Sustainability Day. There were lots of our members there. Thanks everyone who was able to get involved at the Transition marquee. Our new Transition The Grove t-shirts and badges seemed to be popping up everywhere.

Warm regards

At this stage it is important to get the process right early on so because as we grow it will be harder to correct things and learn from mistakes. Getting the subgroups active and working effectively to plan and create for our local resilience here is the big and important stage to get happening. Some of the subgroups are already active – some are growing steadily in numbers as potential waiting to be explored.
