Families are spending on average 7% of their disposable income on childcare down from about 13% in 2004.
Use of childcare in Australia has surged. Almost one in four children aged 12 or younger were in approved childcare in the June quarter of 2010.
The childcare rebate increased to 50% up to a cap of $7500 per child.
