Apply sunscreen every day. It’ll cut your risk of melanoma in half. That is the messageto us from new research.

Queensland Institute of Medical Research’s Cancer and Population Studies Laboratory have done a study using 1621 randomly selected Queenslanders. Half applied sunscreen every day; the other half applied it as they would normally. After 15 years the number of people who developed melanomas in the daily sunscreen group was half that of the discretionary sunscreen group. Results in Journal of Clinical Oncology.

Sunscreen is not the whole answer but evidence is mounting that it makes a big difference.
