The story: Emissions from energy last week grew by 1.0% due to an increase of 2.0% in emissions from coal-fired generation.

Compared with:

Last week:

* Total emissions grew by 1.0% or 15000 tonnes with an increase in emissions from coal-fired generation.
* Emissions from coal-fired generation which accounted for 80% of electricity generation grew by 2.0% or 16000 tonnes.
* Emissions from gas fell by 2.1% or 4000 tonnes.
* Emissions from petroleum grew by 0.5% or 3000 tonnes.
* Electricity demand grew by 0.5%.
* QLD exported 7.6% of its electricity generation to other states compared to 10% the previous week.

Last year:

* This week’s indicator is 4.2% lower than the same week in 2010.
* Total emissions to this stage of 2011 were 5.3% lower than at the similar stage last year.

* 2000: 37% above
