With our busy lives coffee shops take aways and restaurants have become an essential way we eat and socialise.

But are they being part of the problem when it comes to our obesity epidemic?

Are they a prime source of carbohydrates that digest quickly into sugars which turn into body fats?

Could they be part of the solution?

Could they offer more of a range of low carbohydrate low sugar options and less of the straight breads and pastries and dough bases? And make it easy for us to choose these?

How about we systematically explore lots of the local coffee shops take aways restaurants and bakeries and reporting back on what are the best options we find that are not all carbohydrate and sugar?

I tried this at Hungry Jacks Keperra for example. It turns out they have one item on their menu in this category – a sort of chicken salad. Passing fair but not exciting. One of the more expensive items and not much value for the money. But at least it isn’t nearly all bread and sugar!!!

Maybe that is the issue: If you take away all the buns and dough there is not much left not much that has any nutrition in at all.
