Both Brisbane City Council and Moreton Bay Regional Council have a lot of links for dogs & cats. Worth reading through.

Call 3403 8888 24 hours a day 7 days a week for dogs found in the Brisbane City Council area. They will take your details. You can give them permission to pass your details on to the dog’s owner if the owner contacts the Council so the owner can contact you directly and come and collect the dog from you.  Alternatively you can book for the Council Ranger to come and collect the dog from you and take it to the pound.  The Ranger will come within several hours providing the call is booked within set times of the day such as before 3pm.

The practice of micro-chipping dogs means that they can be identified by a local vet or the Council. You can take a lost dog to a local vet and they can scan it for you. The vets have access to the Council database of dog owners and can give you the details.

Dogs are particularly prone to run away when there are thunderstorms.

For Moreton Bay Regional Council their  Animal Shelterslink  has stuff on lost dogs. Call the Council on (07) 3205 0555 Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5.00pm if you have found or lost a dog.
