How much does it cost to run your car?
The RACQ has done a study in 2010 of the costs of owning and operating a vehicle in Australia including comparing costs in the different states and for different size vehicles.

They go into careful details about all the types of costs and various choices about how regularly you do things like buy new tyres. The price per litre for petrol is also a key figure.
The differences (in 2010) between small and medium cars and large SUV/4WDs are stark. The annual costs range from $7 143 for a small car $12060 for a medium car to $20483 for a large SUV/4WD.
