We just went for a walk along Cabbage Tree Creek in Wightman’s Reserve from Fernlands Shopping Village.

The Creek was flowing well and a good concrete cycle path follows it both ways for a good distance. In fact the Arana Hills direction goes for miles.

There are drinking fountains signs seats picnic tables & shelters and children’s play areas along the track.

It is all well managed with mown grass down to the Creek and beautiful trees providing shade and glens.

The track is fairly level – slight grade from top of Creek down easy to walk even with very low fitness levels.

It has a high level of beauty – the trees are tall and a include a variety of rainforest species including a Blue Quandong with its 3cm round blue fruit.

We saw (probably) a green tree snake lots of dragons Wanderer butterflies blue triangle swallowtail butterflies orchard swallowtail butterflies fish in the Creek an ibis fishing a Pacific black duck mother with 5 baby ducklings swimming along.

The Wightman’s Reserve Bushcare Group looks after the area.

We finished up with coffee on the balcony among trees and bird-song overhanging the creek at Fish Lips in the Fernlands Shopping Village (10 Woodhilll Ave Ferny Hills). There is a path down to the Creek track at the back of Fish Lips.
