Been out giving the garden a much-needed tidy and refresh after the wet summer. (Yes only just gotten around to it!)

Anyway any suggestion that the weather is cold was totally dispelled. Digging in the garden harvesting sweet potatoes pulling up weeds tidying up edges adding soil top-ups is very hot work. We were soon pulling off layers of clothes and having lots of water to cool down. Great for getting a Vitamin D boost without too much worry about sunburn.

Anyway the garden is looking much better and we’re cooling down.

It also reminded us how much energy it takes to work in the garden. Lots. A good quick test of whether you are unfit.

We now have a big basket of harvested sweet potatoes (along with our other big basket of harvested arrowroot) and they’ll need to be eaten straight away. Which is a lot of carbohydrate energy to warm the body.
