Good approach to risk management:

When we consider an activity we’d like to see happen on our site we try always ask ourselves: “is it worth the risk?”

This risk management approach is based on a simple concept of weighing the expected outcome of an activity against the risk of conducting the activity. If the risk is too high we don’t do the activity and will look at ways to gain the desired outcome in a less ‘risky’ way.

Successful application of this concept demands that we understand the decision we are making for example:

* What are the existing circumstances and environmental issues?
* What is it we want to achieve?
* What are the actions and activities involved?
* What hazards exist?
* How can these hazards be controlled?
* How will this process be monitored?
