Plastic and litter – not in Kedron Brook please!

Stormwater on local streets flows into drains and into Kedron Brook then down into the ocean.

Litter on the streets ends up in our waterway and oceans.

Evey year 6000000 tonnes of rubbish end up in the world’s oceans causing huge destruction to wildlife. 80% is plastic and plastic has a remarkable ability not to break down.

More than 220000 items of litter are removed from SE QLD waterways each year.

Southeast Queensland [url=http://healthywaterways.org]Healthy Waterways[/url] says: “Prevention is better than a cure. Individual actions contribute to the issue of marine debris both locally and globally.”

Just please don’t drop rubbish on our streets in and our bush. Put it is the rubbish bin.

If you are out for a walk how about taking a bag with you and collecting rubbish you find. Together we can clean up our area and look after our waterways.
