What better way to spend an election day than wading through Kedron Brook sampling fish.

We learned so much participating in this fish survey which is held annually along the Brook.

This is the first time it has also been conducted in the stretch of the Brook behind the Keperra Country Golf Club.

After all the heavy rain we’ve had the Brook was very opaque with dissolved mud in the water. The Creek was very high and running strongly but it was a beautiful day and absolutely perfect under the glorious trees by the water and wading in the stream.

We also collected two bags of rubbish and dragged a shopping trolley out of the Creek. There were 2 others we couldn’t budge.

Kedron Brook is among us but in some ways so distant. Down wading in the Brook we were a world away from the traffic on the bridge over the Brook at Dawson Parade.

Having spent the morning there we will now feel confident to go back and spend time there by the water in the water watching the birds and butterflies and wildlife just a wonderful place to be.
