One of the things that stands out in seeking to map the myriad of ways we are governed locally is that names of powerbrokers crop up and they are mostly people we’ve never heard of and almost certainly never elected.

Even after quite a long period mapping our local governance now I still keep coming across new clutches of powerbrokers I’ve never heard of before.

Here are some:

ALP powerbrokers:

[ul]
[li]Anthony Chisholm (ALP QLD Secretary)[/li]
[li]Nicole Scurrah (Chief of Staff to Anna Bligh)[/li]
[li]Bruce Hawker (Labor election adviser) [/li]
[li]John Utting (Labor pollster UMR Research founder “numbers man” computer geek)[/li]
[li]Bill Ludwig (National & QLD President of AWU)[/li]
[/ul]
LNP powerbrokers:

[ul]
[li]Bruce McIver (President QLD LNP)[/li]
[li]James McGrath (LNP Campaign Manager)[/li]
[li]Mark Textor (Liberal pollster and strategist)[/li]
[li]Bess Myers (Strategis and adviser)[/li]
[li]Dave Moore (Chief of Staff to Jeff Seeney)[/li]
