Celebrating local community and coming together to showcase who we all are is one of the things Transition Towns emphasizes.

Ferny Grove Festival will be a great fun day with young and old locals coming out.

The School has done a tremendous job inviting local community groups to take part this year and they have got around 20 community groups participating which is wonderful.

Transition The Grove have a planning team who have been working hard to prepare the stall for the day. They are working closely also with Kedron Brook Catchment Network and the Alternative Technology Association.

They will have displays on Local food & food gardening; Local sustainable energy; Local transport; Local environment; Local water; Local zero waste; Local health; Peak oil; and visioning TheGrove2032.

There is a competition with a lot of prizes.

There will be 4 demonstrations throughout the afternoon:

How to make a simple worm farm
Cooking with a solar oven including a contest between sunpower and human power for which can boil water faster
How to make a 2-tier worm farm
How to make a 6-star oven

There will be free Show Bags

There will be free health checks; and a wide array of displays and activities.

Of course we’re hoping it won’t rain!
