We dropped in to the Global Market Place at the Arana Hills Church of Christ on a rainy day and came out deeply touched.

Not so much by the stalls of brightly coloured artifacts but by the TEAR Australia stall with books by Dave Andrews whose series Plan Be; See What I mean?; Hey Be and See; and Compassionate Community Work

Now there’s an idea for Christmas presents! Eradicating unwanted gifts and giving literacy lessons instead.

Then there was Sarah on the Just JUMP stall taking photos of people to stop slavery. The idea was to sign a petition to big brands to stop using slavery in their production and have your photo holding a stop slavery sign with it. I talked with Sarah for ages. She was very close to giving birth to the couple’s 3rd child and was feeling under a lot of pressure to ‘return to work’. What she was doing at home looking after her children was not being counted by anyone but her and her husband and children. They’ve gotten off the consumption bandwagon to put their family first.
