The Community Consultative Committees are getting very active under the new Medicare Local models of health delivery.
There is a big meeting of the Metro North Region CCCs next Monday to discuss ARC research funding proposals.
The CCCs have been identified as one of the 3 pillars of delivering local health services under the new model. Local is defined on a large scale – Metro North has around 900000 residents in the region which stretches well up into the Sunshine Coast includes Bribie Island and down to the Brisbane River out to suburbs like Brookfield and Moggill and Nundah.
We’re having to think on our feet to ensure that the new ‘local’ health models will include provision for the needs of ‘locals in our 5 suburbs around here’ and inclusion on planning subcommittees for the Region.
Metro North’s administrative centre is at North Lakes about one hour’s drive from The Grove.
