The Greens just announced an agreement with the Labor Government to restore all of the proposed cuts to the Solar Flagship Program.
20 days — that’s how long it took GetUp members to win the campaign to restore funding cuts to the Solar Flagship Program which supports large-scale solar power stations in Australia.
Less than 3 weeks ago nearly 40000 Australians signed a petition in a rapid response campaign.
10 days later GetUp members raised over $165000 to get a powerful print ad in News Limited and Fairfax papers and members in key electorates wrote thousands of emails and placed hundreds of calls to independent MPs and Greens MP Adam Bandt.
Two days later GetUp hosted a Canberra press conference with Andrew Wilkie Rob Oakeshott Tony Windsor and Adam Bandt to present the petition and the message: cutting renewable energy programs to pay for a flood disaster made more likely by fossil fuel pollution is not an option.
And just yesterday Senator Bob Brown announced a deal reached between the Greens and Labor on the flood levy that sees all $60 million in cuts to the Solar Flagships Program restored and $40 million of the $190 million in deferred funding brought back.
