There’s a longevity study now released: “The Longevity Project” by Professors Lesley Martin and Howard Friedman.

Its findings are surprising but they are easy for us to do right here in our upper Kedron Brook valley.

1. Worry a bit about the future and plan for it! Some worrying helps you live longer. Optimistic happy-go-lucky people have the shortest lives!!!

2. Don’t start children in formal structured classrooms too early. Five years old is too early. Unstructured play is crucially important for young children.

3. Whether you stay single or get married aim for stability. Divorce is really bad for both adults and children. Parental divorce is worse than parental death!

4. How socially connected you are is hugely important for your longevity. If you help other people even better. So joining clubs or church knowing your neighbours having long-term stable friendships being actively involved in your local community is one of the healthiest things you can do to ensure a long life.

5. Conscientiousness to bring order and stability into your life and associating with people who are conscientious ordered and stable is very important for longevity.

6. Persistent hard work throwing yourself into something you love doing won’t hurt your chances of living a long life.
