Dear All

I’ve not long finished reading “Merchants of Doubt” by Naomi Oreskes and Eric Conway.

The book relates a history of how several people and their attendant institutes and lobbies (exclusively right wing in the political sense I’ve got to say) in key positions of power and influence in the US directed media campaigns (more often that not personal and vicious) against the science and scientists involved in reporting major health and environmental issues such as the relation ship between tobacco smoke and lung cancer and cardio-vascular disease CFCs and holes in the ozone layer pesticide and herbicide use and
of course latterly global warming.

The influence of these campaigns has been felt around the world. This history explains much of the current state of poor quality and ignorant debate surrounding politics in regard to human induced global warming and resultant climate change.

It is also a sad indictment of those who practice such indecency.

This is a “must read” book so I hope obtaining a copy is not to hard.
