I’ve just posted a discussion on the Transport Forum about the need to be asking questions now about the type of residential development proposed for the Ferny Grove Station Precinct.

This area has one of the lowest crime rates in the whole of SE QLD and a well-established social and cultural structure.

A large cooperative public housing structure near to Nundah Station has unbalanced the social structures in what was a quiet suburban area and brought major drug and assault crime to levels that the local community is really struggling with.

Several requests for information about the type of residential development proposed for the Ferny Grove Station Precinct have been made and we were told that there was no information about the type of residential development proposed at this stage.

The Mitchelton Blackwood St development resulted in major citizen action but they were largely ineffective because the planning was already largely finalised by the time citizens got any chance to comment.

We need to be pro-actively paying attention to what is happening locally and finding out and making clear what we do and don’t want for the long-term security and liveability of our area.

If anyone would like to join me in seeking to address this matter I’d love to work with them.
