The Lifeline Bookfest is on again at the Brisbane convention Centre. What an outstanding example of avoiding waste by re-use.

These books are not being re-cycled. They are literally being re-used as books. Read lovingly over and over as they change from hand to hand. What treasures.

Lifeline sells the books for very little but the money adds up to a wonderful fund to help them perform their good work helping Brisbane’s people in times of need.

Volunteers provide almost all the labour and it is a great time for all. They come back time after time.

Donations are received from the whole Brisbane community: books magazines records stationery CDs DVDs computer games posters jigsaws board games videos…

There are literally acres of books and items for sale and buyers go away shaking their heads in amazement at how cheap it is to get some treasures. Most learn to make the twice-yearly bookfests a must-do event.
