Dear {usertag:name}
Energy Sub-group Meeting 7 June
With the experience of planning our “Grove Energy Expo” behind us I’m hoping that our next Energy Group meeting will be an opportunity to discuss what we have learned and to plan a new initiative.
The decision to morph the Expo into the Ferny Grove Festival arose from the simple reality that we were unable to generate enough exhibitors to make the Expo a worthwhile experience for visitors or to ensure enough visitors to make it worthwhile for the exhibitors. It is unfortunate that the Ferny Grove Festival was rained out depriving us of the opportunity to engage with our local community about Energy.
The original proposition was that interest in the event would be stimulated by the desire of local residents for clear and trustworthy information about how to reduce their power bill and ultimately their carbon footprint by various means including Solar PV Solar hot water and improved energy efficiency. It appears that the ‘hip pocket nerve’ is still not sensitive enough to generate the numbers needed for an Expo type event.
I suggest that the focus of the next meeting should be to brainstorm some fresh ideas about effective ways to reduce the carbon footprint of The Grove community.
To stimulate this discussion I have checked out the websites of some other Transition Towns to see what their Energy Groups are up to. You might like to explore the links below:
