Member for Ferny Grove Geoff Wilson has moved from the Education and Training portfolio to the Health portfolio taking over from Paul Lucas. He was sworn in as Health Minister and a senior Cabinet member on 21 February. Health has been a troubled portfolio.
Geoff said he has “fire in his belly” and is excited to take on the Health portfolio during the era of national health reform. “I want to keep driving the reform of the emergency department performance and elective surgery. This is a $10 billion portfolio budget a quarter of the state’s budget. That’s $10 billion reasons to make sure patients come first and the front line staff of the whole system are well supported.”
