The Queensland Police Service and Suncorp Insurance Community Grants Scheme is now open.

In association with the Queensland Police Service Suncorp Insurance wants to hear about your project for improving safety in your local community.

As part of Suncorp Insurance’s commitment to keeping Queenslanders safe they’ll be investing over $300000 in grants in the next 2 years for projects aimed at improving road safety and preventing crime. It could be anything from creating a safer drop-off zone at a local sports club to talking to young people about personal safety strategies.

If you are a local community organisation that has identified a great way to improve road safety or crime prevention in Queensland you can apply for a one-off grant of between $1000 and $10000 (including GST) to make your project happen.
Who can apply?

All applicants must be either:

* An incorporated not-for-profit organisation OR
* Local government councils OR
* Organisations sponsoring an unincorporated not-for-profit organisation OR
* Community group OR
* Members of the Queensland Police Service (QPS) or Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) working in partnership with community.

Please note: All grant applicants must specify a grant category (road safety or crime prevention) and identify and address a specific road safety or crime prevention issue within their local community.

How to Apply
Step 1.

Read the Community Grant Scheme Application Kit and Funding Agreement to find out more details on the program’s objectives types of projects that will be funded the assessment process and terms and conditions of the scheme.
Step 2.

Complete the Community Grant Scheme Application Form.
Step 3.

Email your completed application form to communitygrantscheme@police.qld.gov.au

You will receive an email confirming receipt of your application within 2 business days.

What is the assessment process?

Applications will be open from the 1 June – 15 July 2011. Your application must be received by the Community Grant Scheme Coordinator by the 15 July 2011 to be eligible for funding. Applications will be assessed by a panel comprised of senior Queensland Police and Suncorp Insurance representatives against an Assessment Criteria based on the information provided in your application form. You will be notified of the outcome of your application approximately 4 weeks after the funding round closing date of 15 July 2011.
