Biography
* Ian Macdonald was first elected to represent Queensland in the Senate in 1990.
* He is the Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Northern and Remote Australia and the Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for the Defence Force and Defence Support.
* Prior to entering Federal Parliament he was a lawyer with offices in Ayr Bowen and Airlie beach.
* Ian also spent 11 years as an elected Councilor on the Burdekin Shire Council.
* In 2007 he was appointed to the Northern Australia Land and Water Taskforce in order to follow up on many initiatives raised during the Northern Australia Forum which he initiated during his time as Minister for Regional Services.
* An active participant in various local sporting business and community organisations he lives in Ayr with his wife of thirty years Leslie.
