We’ve just been for a walk around the duck pond. It is in very poor condition.
Grounds and gardens generally very unkempt.
Lawns barely mown. Lots of vigorous weeds everywhere including a lot of cobblers’ pegs in full seed.
Shrubbery looking like it needs a thorough garden maintenance.
Concrete path very overgrown at head and foot height with shrubs vines and lamandra. We had to duck to get through.
The pond is full of algae.
Ducks look fine. There seem to be 4 or 5 varieties all keen for a feed but we hadn’t brought bread.
There is a children’s playground.
On the other side of the pond there is a pavilion but no other facilities. Typical of BCC park compared to MBRC parks in Ferny Hills and Arana Hills. The edge of the pavilion has no railing and hangs out quite high over a boulder-filled drainage area which seems quite dangerous.
This park gives little indication of BCC giving a damn about the community around here even though the elections are on in a couple of weeks. It makes me really cross. We’ve just driven around the huge area of new development in Upper Kedron but the facilities aren’t being put in to match.
