Anti-psychotic medications can lead to big (2 stone) weight gains and diabetes and are shown to have much earlier death (20 years earlier) as an outcome.

Anti-psychotic medications provide an immediate way to address a mental health problem but the long-term outcomes appear grim.

Can we ask ourselves what we could do locally to help in cases of psychosis? How could a person in a psychotic state live safely locally? Are there local ways of supporting them that would result in better outcomes ahead? What are the concerns that our community would have to address to be able to support people more in our local community through periods of mental illness such as psychosis?

How can we ensure that physical health conditions such as obesity and diabetes are given adequate attention for people with mental health problems?
