Tawny Frogmouth. Get confused for owls but not an owl. No talons. Soft feathers. A really good hunter. Flexible neck. Big yellow eyes. Amazing camouflage. Make themselves into a tree virtually. Hang around in families. They make terrible nests – a bit like a pigeon with 3 sticks in it. They are notorious for being found fallen out of the nest. Little whispy feathers over their beak help with camouflage and help with hunting. Inside the mouth is bright yellow. Eat things from moths through to small animals such as mice. Makes a MM MM MM MM noise. Get mistaken for the little BooBook Owls. Another common name for them is a Mopoke (although the Mopoke call is actually the BooBook Owl call).
