Just had a great meeting at Geoff Wilson’s office with members of the health team for the northern region. The meeting was to follow up an initial proposal we put forward to get a series of health literacy seminars up and running locally with guest speakers from the major health groups like the Heart Foundation.
Naturally these things evolve! There is a lot of passion and enthusiasm around community health resilience and the potential for creating measurable health benefits in our defined local area.
It is very important to look after our community health promotion staff – there aren’t many of them but they do an important job for our community.
Planning is progressing to work with some of the currently effective and energised community groups and organisations in this area with a view to having a series of quarterly health literacy events locally.
