While I was in our local computer shop (Total IT in Ferny Grove) yesterday I asked about e-waste. He said they were happy to accept it and would take it to the e-waste facility at Ferny Grove Transfer Station. I guess they do this anyway with some ‘traded in’ equipment and re quite happy to use this a a reason for people to walk in the door.
It might be worth checking with other local computer shops to see if they provide a more local drop-off point.
