How do we define marriage?

Ray Campbell’s presentation was heard by a full house at the Daley Centre at St William’s Church.

Ray briefly discussed the political situation in Australia concerning the issues of abortion and euthanasia and then went into greater detail on the topic of same-sex marriage.

Ray emphasized that in the current environment same-sex marriage is not predominantly a religious issue nor an issue of equality. It is an argument about the nature of marriage. If we regard marriage as a procreative union directed towards raising children and not simply a romantic domestic union where children are an optional extra then we need to carefully examine the logic of a redefinition of marriage.
