The $1.1 billion Moreton Bay Rail Link from Petrie to Redcliffe/Kippa-Ring will be a fantastic resource but it will overwhelmingly focus on providing express transport to the CBD for workers in the east of the Moreton Bay council area.

It will reduce congestion on the Bruce Hwy and cut greenhouse gas emissions and attract a lot of investment business and jobs in the eastern section of the shire.

It will be funded by the State Government once it is up and running. In the meantime during the 6 years it will take to build the Moreton Bay Regional Council will provide funding of about $17 million/year for a total of $105 million.

Moreton Bay Shire now it is amalgamated is a large region and there is no transport ACROSS the Shire. Residents living in Ferny Hills would need to take the Ferny Grove line in to Bowen Hills then change trains to go out to Petrie to access the new link to Redcliffe. Arana Hills residents have no direct access to rail.

Congestion on the roads across Moreton Bay Shire such as Rode Rd is severe. Isn’t it time someone looked at an East-West link?
