At the Ferny Grove Markets this morning on the Timor Leste Core Group’s stall to sell raffle tickets to fund raise for this church community in Timor Leste.

Some went to Timor Leste and visited the church early this year and it made a deep impression on him which he shared. The people are very happy but few have work because there are no jobs. They live by subsistence farming and fishing.

Seems we could learn a lot from them about how to live happy lives with very low levels of dependence on oil carbon emissions and dependence on working long hours to pay for our material lifestyles.

St William’s Grovely has established a Sister Parish relationship with St John Brito Liquica.

Being at the Ferny Grove Markets is always great to see people you know – it seemed like a steady stream of people and I got 2 hugs which is pretty good. Delighted to run into a new local doctor with his wife – they had found out about the Markets from this website.

Great event and we did sell some raffle tickets. There are lots of prizes donated by local businesses and a very visual prize of a small motor bike for a child that set young boys’ eyes sparkling and asking mums to buy tickets.
