The candidate for Ryan had a BBQ in Upper Kedron Park today to meet locals. The Hon Geoff Wilson MP State Member for Ferny Grove and his Electorate Officer Bruce Kimble were there along with Sheila and Matt Siggins and a lot of other ALP members.

We talked with Karen Steven’s Campaign Manager. She is a full bottle on the need for climate action. Sees this election as a ‘cost-of-living’ election. We discussed the risk of another global financial crisis with the US and Europe both in risky territory and the need for all the major parties to be coming up with policies on how they would handle such a crisis. She definitely agreed it is an issue and also agreed that the massive surge in mining exports from Australia is driving up costs and we risk high inflation and having to import labour.

Local ALP supporters (supporters of all parties!) are welcome to join Transition The Grove if they agree with our Aims & Principles and then are welcome to have their say on the Governance Forum. It would be good if members of the different parties were discussing issues from a local point of view and a transition point of view. Also if they were ensuring that their party’s policies were available to the local electorate in The Grove so that we all have as much information as possible to help us choose who we vote for awarely.

Apparently there is usually room for people to volunteer as scrutineers too if you are interested.
