We went down to The Grove Christmas Party on the Ferny Grove State School oval this evening put on each year by The Grove Community Church for the local community.

A perfect evening weather-wise. Fine and a pleasant temperature.

This event is outstanding. The Grove Community Church manages musical presentations and performances to a very high standard. The whole atmosphere was gentle and beautiful. Just a stunning evening. The tiny children dressed exquisitely for the Nativity Scene were treasures. The singing was superb. They have brought the sacred in and it makes it very special.

We were very strongly brought again into awareness that our community here in the upper Kedron Brook valley is a Christian community. At Christmas time it becomes very obvious with repeated events throughout the community with a strong Christian theme.

Tonight there was also the Christmas in Keperra at Keperra Baptist Church which we didn’t get to attend but it would have been an equally popular event and also very moving.

This is deep community not at all superficial crass or commercial. We commend The Grove Community Church on the great job they are doing.

We ran into old friends and had long chats while tucking into hot chocolate with Santa Claus up by the stage.

There were a lot of activities for children and families earlier.

On the way home we just felt great. Christmas is such a special time here in this community. Leckmy St in Ferny Grove is ablaze with houses lit up with Christmas lights. Good on you Leckmy St!

We keep feeding our visitors Christmas cake and the 3rd cake is half gone already.
