The Christmas Season

Ain’t the Christmas Season grand! Sure! Sure! I know there are times when it all seems too much. But it really isn’t bad.

This is the Season of the Christmas wind-up parties. Speaking personally I think they are jolly good. The only agenda is relaxing and unwinding at the end of the year. We all know the format: Eat drink and be merry! If there’s Christmas crackers pull them and read out the jokes and don’t worry about the silly hat. Eat more than you should. Same with the drinks however strong you like your drinks.

Then there’s the presents! Presents I hear you grown. Christmas shopping! Too expensive. Too hard to know what to get. Come on! I was saying that until December came and suddenly the shops are full of remarkable bargains that look like real Christmas presents that family and friends would like to receive. Like $20 for a big box with a foot spa and a whole lot of skin creams courtesy of Coles and the Chinese. Or $29 for a DVD set that does a lot of other things and includes 300 electronic games also at our local Coles. The shops are bursting with stuff and while you’ll never hear me promoting consumerism it is certainly not excruciating finding something that should pass with even the most curmudgeonly grandchild.

So I wish you a Merry Christmas and hope that you are finding the Christmas festive trail a whole lot of fun. It’s summertime and it’s ok to start relaxing and enjoying yourself. Should be more of it.
