Another Tuesday morning at the [url=http://www.brisbanetramwaymuseum.org/]Brisbane Tramway Museum[/url]. In the true spirit of “men’s shed brotherhood” a bunch of guys from the Ridley Road Men’s Shed came long and installed the picnic table tops and seats they had made for us. That provided an opportunity for a friendly sausage sizzle lunch and some tram rides for the visitors.
Work continues on laying a slab for a new shed for the 600volt DC power supply for the trams. Currently the trams are powered by what must be some of the last operating mercury vapour arc rectifiers [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNAKL9qtnIA&feature=related]like these[/url].
At a more mundane level I continued cleaning up and painting some old overhead light fittings.
There is an almost unlimited supply of potential restoration projects from complete trams down to coin collection boxes. I doubt if any men’s shed group is provided with such a vast collection of things to work on.
