Council accused of huge backflip.
There was a decision in Council last night to approve a draft plan for the Mitchelton area which does not include the changes promised to residents in February.
The plan approved four (rather than three) storeys in ‘fringe’ residential precincts and up to ten stories (rather than 6-8) in Osborne Rd.
Paul Poulus of Mitchelton Action Group said that residents felt betrayed. “It’s far harder now once it’s gone through the full council meeting to get changes.”
The council says its plans will allow another 1600 people to live in the area.
