Brisbane City Council is keen to get food waste separated from other waste (it still is a sizeable amount of what goes to the tip) and processed locally by methods such as worm farms.
We can each have a little worm farm at home but the opportunity for bigger scale ones is also there (all our schools hotels clubs restaurants & take-aways fruit & vege shops).
Discussing it so far who is interested in developing a model for a ‘commercial worm farm’ with some advice from the leading people in this area (we are aware of Hap who makes and teaches about worm farms regularly and can be contacted through the Brisbane Organic Growers & other groups like the Sub-tropical Fruit Growers Assoc.) Phil Ryan and Northey Street City Farm also have excellent models of large-scale worm farms.
