I get very disturbed by calls to open debate about having nuclear power stations in Australia.

At least 100% of Australians are like me. They are firmly against any form of nuclear power anywhere near where they live or work.

There are some exciting options on the table such as the Towards Zero Carbon project proposal that use off the shelf proven solar and wind technology and project a ready ability to deliver all
Australia’s power needs within a decade.

On the nuclear front Allen Hull of Margaret River in WA asks about thorium-powered nuclear reactors claiming they cannot melt down and produce little waste and what waste there is has a relatively short after-life. Exactly how long is that? You’d want to look at the facts very carefully and ask why.

Personally the ethics of putting something I wouldn’t want near me near other people instead is untenable. Not anywhere.
