The Department of Main Roads will conduct a feasibility study into an extension of Archdale Rd to give a new entrance to Ferny Grove. The feasibility study is expected to be completed by mid-2012.

Cr Brian Battersby said he would be happy to look at the proposal provided it didn’t direct more traffic through the residential streets of Ferny Hills.

Cr Andrew Wines said he was committed to secure funding to ease the congestion problems in the targeted suburbs.

Geoff Wilson MP says that safety is a major concern with large numbers of high school students walking between the railway station and the Ferny Grove High School. This is about providing an extra connection to Samford Rd for the residents in Ferny Grove and Upper Kedron.

Local resident Ian Moller has been pushing the proposal since 2004. He also sees it as a golden opportunity to get rid of the Arbor St level crossing.

After crossing Kedron Brook it looks like it would go between the Tennis Centre and Woolshed Grove.
