Please welcome new member Nasma Najeeb to the Food & Gardening Recreation Health Environment Education Energy Water Histroy and Towards Zero Waste subgroups.
Nasma belongs to Gumnut Playgroup.
The Film Night last night at Ferny Grove State High School was great to get together again. Everyone seemed to enjoy the movie “Home Grown” which is about a family who sets up to produce food and fuel on their inner suburban property in Los Angeles and end up producing 6000 pounds of food a year and feeding themselves and supplying local restaurants and making all their own fuel for their vehicle. The outstanding thing about them was what a warm and caring family they are. And the goats!
People seem to be getting into adding events to the Community Calendar which is so rewarding to have happening. It makes it worth checking to see what is on.
The Transition The Grove Hour on Radio YYY 87.6 FM programs can be downloaded in full for the last few weeks from YYY’s website (www.yyyfm.org.au) or historically without the songs on www.transitionthegrove.org.au We’re trying to get together a programs on stories of locals with a disability and services locally; and more on local volunteers. If you can think of people you think would be good to interview could you email me back about it please to administrator@transitionthegrove.org.au
This morning we’re just finalising a nomination to Geoff Wilson’s Community Champions Awards from Transition The Grove for John Jordaan. John is our Treasurer and he’s been interviewed on Transition The Grove Hour about the various ways he’s volunteered for this local community over the years. I encourage you to have a listen to the interview. YYY Station Manager Mike Baguley is also being nominated (by YYY) and he has given a great deal of help and support to training and getting Transition The Grove Hour programs regularly to air.
Transition The Grove’s AGM will be coming up very shortly. Notice will go out about it very soon – the annual audit of finances is just being done.
