Malcolm Turnbull carried out a survey on problem gambling. The results are:

Almost 7500 people responded to the survey and a majority also contributed comments which reveal the very personal nature of this issue and its effect on so many families and organisations in our towns and cities.

Most people want things to change — fully 66.1 per cent of respondents. A majority of people 57.3 per cent either support of strongly support mandatory pre-commitment although regular poker machine players were much more likely to oppose the policy.

The most popular measures were limiting spins to $1 with 66.7 per cent of support and increased counselling for problem gamblers with 78.6 per cent of support.
