Biography

* Mark Furner was first elected to represent Queensland in the Senate in 2007.
* He has held numerous positions in the ALP and has been an elected official of the National Union of Workers in addition to being a long-standing volunteer and office-holder for both the ALP and wider Labour movement in Queensland.
* He has also been an industrial officer in the Queensland Police Union and holds an Associate Diploma of Business in Industrial Relations.
* An active community member in 2006 and 2007 Mark was a team captain in the Queensland Cancer Council’s Relay for Life and achieved recognition as the highest fund raiser on both occasions.
* Born in Brisbane he is married to Lorraine and has three children.
