- A waterway can be a river creek drain brook tributary bay or estuary. It may even be dry for part of the year.
- Cedar Creek and Kedron Brook in The Grove are the first part of the Kedron Brook Catchment Area. They ultimately drain into Moreton Bay at Nudgee Beach near the Brisbane Airport after flowing through the suburbs of:

- Our streets and gardens drain into the creeks and the water from our gutters also flows into the creeks. If we backwash our pools this goes into the creeks. Any pollution also washes into the creeks. You can help protect the creeks by:
- Make sure motor vehicles do not leak oil or other chemicals such as brake fluid
- Reduce the amount of fertiliser and pesticides you use on the garden
- Compost grass clippings and garden waste in a compost bin
- Pick up your dog’s droppings
- Design your garden to minimise stormwater runoff by having swales and garden beds that water can soak into
- Minimise bare areas of ground by planting lawns shrubs and trees
- Report any spillage of chemicals or oils whether accidental or deliberate to Council on 3403 8888.
