Blood pressure is the pressure of the blood in the arteries as it is pumped around the body by the heart.

High blood pressure (hypertension) usually does not have symptoms but can lead to serious health problems. Healthy eating and life-style changes can help to control high blood pressure.

There are two measurements taken the Systolic pressure and the Diastolic pressure.

Normal: Systolic less than 120 mm Hg; Diastolic less than 80 mm HG

Prehypertension: Systolic 120-139 mm Hg; Diastolic 80-89 mm Hg

Hypertension Stage 1: Systolic 140-159 mm Hg; Diastolic 90-99 mm Hg

Hypertension Stage 2: Systolic 160 or higher mm Hg; Diastolic 100 or higher mm Hg
