On Friday 29 August in England Prince William and Catherine Middleton were married. Ask anyone in Australia what they were doing on Friday night it would probably have been something to do with watching the wedding live on television. Billions of people worldwide were doing the same thing.

That makes it even more extraordinary that the place to be on Friday night in The Grove in our upper Kedron Brook valley community was The Hills Uniting Church in Arana Hills. At the same time that William and Catherine were getting married Suzie Castle was being ordained as a Uniting Church Minister and then inducted as the Minister of The Hills Uniting Church.

The church was packed with both locals and visitors for a formal ordination service hymns the Nicene Creed and Lord’s Prayer communion then a large supper prepared by many members of the church community. Local State member Minister for Health Geoff Wilson MP attended and offered some words of congratulations.

Rev. Suzie Castle’s personal journey to her current role in our community in The Grove is an interesting one that will make her an interesting person to watch. She has the potential to make contributions of real and significant value in this community and we wish her well.
