My School II identifies marked disparities in government funding levels across the nation.

Two aspects to take into account are the socio-economic (ICSEA score) group the school belongs to and the total government funding per student.

Alarm bells start ringing when schools with lower ICSEA scores are getting less government funding per student than some other schools with higher ICSEA scores.

When you have a wealthy private college with a high ICSEA score getting a higher level of government funding per student than a public school with a low ICSEA score there is something extremely wrong.

For example Brisbane’s Seton College at Mount Gravatt receives almost $21000 from the government (state and federal combined) per student. It has an ICSEA score of 1040.

Contrast this with Helensvale State High School which receives $8612 pers tudent and has an ICSEA score of 989.

So the question needing to be asked in the upper Kedron Brook valley is: What ICSEA score does each local school have? AND What government funding per student does it receive?
